Turning Point Center’s mission is to assist the elderly homeless, ages 50 and above, and help them return to mainstream society as self-sufficient individuals.

One of the joys of preparing an annual report is that it gives us the opportunity to look back and be thankful for all that has been accomplished. The past fiscal year was filled with wonderful opportunities and many challenges. Some of the highlights were:
Turning Point Center has collaborated with outside agencies to provide supportive services such as:
Services for our facility residents include: Dental, Harris County Gold Card System for medical services, transportation to N.W. Clinic, SSI representation for S.S. hearings, Food Stamps, MHMRA, Government cell phones, Operational License and I.D. Cards, Blindness Prevention, Vision testing, Mammograms, TB testing, haircuts, and collaboration with Memorial Assistance Ministries to help residents pay for prescriptions.
In-house, we provide:
Food, shelter, clothing, toiletries, one-on-one volunteer counseling, computer classes, job training, resume writing, 12-step program for AA and NA, daily life skills, and setting goals, transportation to clinic and to area stores. We have some new volunteers working one-on-one with residents and their goals. We have completed all the hot water heaters in all the units within the last 6 months.
